Citi Wealth Investment Solutions is transforming its investment technology landscape to compete in a world defined by platform ecosystems, real‑time intelligence, and AI‑driven personalization.

We are seeking a Head of Platforms to build and lead the next generation of AI‑enabled, product‑agnostic platforms that power the full lifecycle of Wealth Investment Solutions.

This role is foundational—not aligned to any single product or asset class. Instead, it is responsible for creating horizontal, reusable platform capabilities that serve all investment products (equities, fixed income, alternatives, structured products, annuities) and all channels (advisor‑led, digital, hybrid).

The successful candidate will define and execute a vision where platforms evolve from systems of record and workflow into systems of intelligence and decisioning, embedding AI deeply into the fabric of investment processes.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Strategy & Transformation

Define and execute a platform‑first, product‑agnostic technology strategy

Lead the transition from fragmented, product‑centric systems to a composable, API‑driven platform ecosystem

Establish a target‑state architecture that is modular, scalable, and cloud‑native

Drive platform reuse, standardization, and reduction of duplication across the investment landscape

Build Horizontal, Reusable Platforms

Own and evolve core platforms that serve all investment solutions:

Portfolio Construction & Management (UMA, models, overlays, constraints)

Order Management, Rebalancing & Execution, Investment Data, Performance & Analytics

Product Manufacturing & Lifecycle Platforms (abstracted from product silos)

API & Experience Enablement Platforms powering advisor and client channels

AI‑Enabled Decisioning Platforms

Embed AI as a native platform capability, not an overlay

Build decision‑centric platforms supporting:

Portfolio optimization and personalization

Intelligent rebalancing and execution

Product recommendation and suitability

Real‑time risk monitoring

Establish closed‑loop intelligence systems (data > insight > decision > action > learning)

Deliver reusable AI services (recommendation engines, copilots, decision engines)

Modern Engineering & Architecture

Drive adoption of:

Cloud‑native architectures (AWS/GCP)

Microservices, APIs, and event‑driven systems

Real‑time streaming data platforms

Establish engineering excellence through:

DevSecOps and CI/CD

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

Observability, resiliency, and scalability patterns

Promote API‑as‑a‑product mindset across the organization

Data & AI Platform Convergence

Build unified platforms integrating data engineering and AI/ML capabilities

Enable:

Real‑time and batch data pipelines

Feature stores and model lifecycle management (MLOps)

Scalable AI deployment frameworks

Ensure strong data governance, lineage, and quality controls

Ecosystem & Integration

Enable seamless integration across:

Internal Citi platforms (banking, markets, risk, data, Services)

External partners (custodians, market data providers, fintechs)

Design interoperable, extensible platforms to reduce vendor lock‑in

Establish standardized APIs and event contracts

Risk, Controls & Compliance

Embed controls, auditability, and explainability into platform design

Ensure compliance with regulatory and fiduciary requirements

Implement Responsible AI frameworks (bias detection, explainability, monitoring)

Leadership & Talent

Build and lead a high‑performing global platform engineering organization

Attract and develop talent in distributed systems, data engineering, and AI platforms

Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and engineering excellence

Act as a senior technology advisor to business and executive leadership

Must‑Have Qualifications

20+ years of experience in financial services or adjacent industries,

with strong exposure to wealth or investment management technology

Proven track record of leading large‑scale platform transformations in complex, global organizations

Deep expertise in modern platform architecture, including:

Microservices, APIs, and event‑driven systems

Cloud‑native engineering (AWS and /or GCP)

Distributed systems and high‑scale platforms

Demonstrated experience building product‑agnostic, reusable platform capabilities

Strong experience integrating data platforms and AI/ML capabilities into production systems

Hands‑on Understanding of

Portfolio management, trading, and investment lifecycle workflows

Real‑time data and decisioning systems

Proven ability to lead large global engineering teams and significant technology budgets

Strong executive presence with ability to influence C‑suite and senior stakeholders

Experience operating in highly regulated environments with strong risk and control frameworks

Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications

Direct experience building AI‑native or decisioning platforms in wealth or asset management

Exposure to Generative AI use cases (advisor copilots, client interaction, automated insights)

Experience with UMA platforms, model management, and multi‑asset portfolio construction

Familiarity with alternatives, structured products, and annuities platforms

Experience implementing MLOps frameworks and enterprise AI governance

Prior experience driving cloud transformation at enterprise scale

Exposure to platform operating models (platform‑as‑a‑product, internal developer platforms)

Background in capital markets or institutional asset management technology

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field

Leadership Profile

Platform‑first thinker with the ability to abstract business capabilities into reusable services

Strong balance of strategic vision and execution discipline

Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and transformation environments

Commercially minded, with focus on business outcomes and value creation

Exceptional communicator who can translate complex technology into business impact

$170,000.00 - $300,000.00 In addition to salary, Citi’s offerings may also include, for eligible employees, discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
