Overview of the Role
Citi Global Wealth is a leading provider of financial solutions for affluent, high net worth, and ultra-high net worth clients globally. The technology organization is building a purpose-driven team to serve its globally diverse, digitally forward customers. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior data leader to join our Wealth Management team and transform investment technology through a platform-first, AI-enabled strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Transformation
Define and execute a platform-first, product-agnostic technology strategy.
Lead the transition from fragmented, product-centric systems to a composable, API-driven platform ecosystem.
Establish a target-state architecture that is modular, scalable, and cloud-native.
Drive platform reuse, standardization, and reduction of duplication across the investment landscape.
Build Horizontal, Reusable Platforms
Own and evolve core platforms for all investment solutions: portfolio construction, order management, rebalancing, execution, investment data, performance, and analytics.
Develop product manufacturing & lifecycle platforms abstracted from product silos.
Enable API & experience platforms powering advisor and client channels.
AI-Enabled Decisioning Platforms
Embed AI as a native platform capability.
Build decision-centric platforms for portfolio optimization, intelligent rebalancing, product recommendation, suitability, and real-time risk monitoring.
Establish closed-loop intelligence systems and deliver reusable AI services such as recommendation engines and copilots.
Modern Engineering & Architecture
Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures (AWS/GCP), microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and real-time streaming data platforms.
Establish engineering excellence through DevSecOps, CI/CD, SRE, observability, resiliency, and scalability practices.
Promote an API-as-a-product mindset across the organization.
Data & AI Platform Convergence
Build unified platforms integrating data engineering and AI/ML capabilities.
Enable real-time and batch data pipelines, feature stores, model lifecycle management, and scalable AI deployment frameworks.
Ensure strong data governance, lineage, and quality controls.
Ecosystem & Integration
Integrate seamlessly with internal Citi platforms and external partners.
Design interoperable, extensible platforms to reduce vendor lock-in.
Establish standardized APIs and event contracts.
Risk, Controls & Compliance
Embed controls, auditability, and explainability into platform design.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and fiduciary requirements.
Implement Responsible AI frameworks for bias detection, explainability, and monitoring.
Leadership & Talent
Build and lead a high-performing global platform engineering organization.
Attract and develop talent in distributed systems, data engineering, and AI platforms.
Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and engineering excellence.
Act as a senior technology advisor to business and executive leadership.
Must-Have Qualifications
20+ years of experience in financial services or adjacent industries with strong exposure to wealth or investment management technology.
Proven track record of leading large‑scale platform transformations in complex, global organizations.
Deep expertise in modern platform architecture: microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, cloud-native engineering (AWS/GCP), and distributed systems.
Demonstrated experience building product-agnostic, reusable platform capabilities.
Strong experience integrating data platforms and AI/ML capabilities into production systems.
Hands-on Understanding of
Portfolio management, trading, and investment lifecycle workflows.
Real-time data and decisioning systems.
Leading large global engineering teams and technology budgets.
Influencing C‑suite and senior stakeholders.
Operating in highly regulated environments with strong risk and control frameworks.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience building AI-native or decisioning platforms in wealth or asset management.
Exposure to generative AI use cases such as advisor copilots and automated insights.
Experience with UMA platforms, model management, and multi‑asset portfolio construction.
Familiarity with alternatives, structured products, and annuities platforms.
Experience implementing MLOps frameworks and enterprise AI governance.
Prior experience driving cloud transformation at enterprise scale.
Exposure to platform operating models and internal developer platforms.
Background in capital markets or institutional asset management technology.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field.

Compensation and Benefits Primary Location: Jersey City, New Jersey, United States.
Salary Range: $170,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year.
In addition to salary, the role may include discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
