
Academic/Instructor Paid Summer Camp Assistant TADA! Youth Theater New York, NY

Reports to: Education Managers & Director of Education.
Responsibilities
Support TADA!’s Teaching Artists (Director/Choreographer & Music Director) in facilitating camp activities and fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Encourage active student participation by modeling enthusiastic participation in singing, dancing, and other camp activities.
Lead theater games and arts & crafts activities during camp and aftercare.
Supervise aftercare, student check‑in and/or check‑out, as well as bathroom trips & snack/lunch/water breaks, to ensure student safety and smooth transitions.
Support camp administrative needs (typing/copying scripts & camp performance programs, etc.).
Assist with space & supply preparation & clean‑up.
Clearly and graciously communicate with caregivers, students, and staff, addressing concerns/needs.
Assist with additional departmental duties as assigned by the Director of Education & Education Managers.
Qualifications
Past experience working with youth aged 5‑12 and realistic understanding of different developmental needs.
Consistent reliability & punctuality.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong & empathetic customer service‑orientation.
Passion for youth theater and arts education with a commitment to TADA!’s mission, vision, and values.
Experience in musical theater choreography or music direction is a plus, but not required.
Intercultural sensitivity with people of various identity markers and lived experiences, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Solution‑oriented problem solving.
Detail‑oriented organizational skills.
Position contingent on a clear background check.
Time Commitment Camps run for 12 weeks between June 15 and September 4. Assistants will be expected to assist with 4–8 weeks of camp within that time frame. Camps run Monday‑Friday, 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., with optional aftercare from 3:30 p.m.–5:15 p.m. Assistants are expected to be present from 8:15 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (if scheduled to supervise aftercare) or 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (if not supervising aftercare), with hours totalling between 35–40 hrs per week (not including 1–2 unpaid breaks per day). Assistants are expected to attend mandatory paid training on Tuesday, June 2, within the 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. window.
Salary $20.00 per hour.
