Overview

A privately backed, multi‑business organization is seeking an Interim Director of FP&A to support a critical transition period while a permanent search is underway.

This is a project‑based, individual contributor role designed for a senior FP&A professional who is highly execution‑oriented and comfortable stepping directly into active initiatives.

The role reports to senior finance leadership and works closely with executive stakeholders. The focus is on hands‑on financial modeling, forecasting, pricing, and analytical support, rather than team management or long‑term strategic transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personally deliver hands‑on FP&A work, including:
    • Financial modeling and scenario analysis
    • Forecasting, re‑forecasting, and variance analysis
    • Pricing and margin analysis
    • AOP and budget support
  • Step into multiple active finance projects and own deliverables end‑to‑end
  • Partner with senior leaders to provide timely, decision‑ready financial insights
  • Collaborate across finance and business teams to align assumptions and priorities
  • Adapt quickly as priorities shift in a fast‑moving, project‑driven environment
  • Support transition and knowledge transfer to an incoming permanent FP&A leader

Role Profile

This position is best suited for someone who:

  • Operates comfortably as a director‑level individual contributor
  • Prefers doing the work over delegating it
  • Brings structure and clarity to ambiguous, time‑sensitive projects
  • Communicates effectively with executives without needing formal authority

Required Qualifications

  • Significant FP&A experience at the Director or Senior Director level
  • Background supporting PE‑backed, manufacturing, retail, or consumer‑focused organizations
  • Demonstrated hands‑on financial modeling and forecasting expertise
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort building models from scratch
  • Strong project management instincts and ability to self‑prioritize
  • Ability to work hybrid with consistent on‑site presence midweek (local candidates only)

Preferred Experience

  • Interim, consulting, or project‑based finance leadership roles
  • Exposure to FP&A tools such as Adaptive Planning, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Multi‑business unit or complex operating environment experience

Additional Details

  • This is a contract, project‑based role — not contract‑to‑hire
  • No direct people management responsibilities
  • High visibility with senior finance and executive leadership
  • Opportunity for extension based on project scope and business needs
