A large, mission-driven organization is seeking an Interim Director of Budgeting & FP&A to lead enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting for a complex organization with approximately $350M in annual operating budgets.
This role will partner closely with executive leadership and department leaders to oversee the full budgeting lifecycle, manage monthly forecasting, and provide strategic financial insights to support organizational decision-making.
The Interim Director will also oversee the organization’s budgeting and forecasting system and lead process improvements that enhance financial visibility and planning accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the annual budgeting process across multiple departments and operating units
• Manage the monthly forecasting cycle and monitor performance against budget
• Analyze financial trends and variances, providing actionable insights to leadership
• Prepare financial reports and presentations for executive leadership and board stakeholders
• Serve as the primary administrator for the organization’s budgeting and forecasting platform
• Partner with department leaders to develop staffing and operational budget plans
• Train and support budget owners across the organization on financial planning processes
• Manage and mentor finance team members supporting budgeting and forecasting initiatives
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Experience managing complex budgeting processes in a multi-entity environment preferred
• Non-profit experience required
• Experience with budgeting software such as Adaptive Planning, Workday, or similar systems strongly preferred
• Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to senior leaders and non-financial stakeholders
