Job Summary
The Director of AI is a senior IT leadership role responsible for the oversight of all deployed AI systems at Harris Health System. Reporting to the VP & CTO, this role ensures that AI technologies are used ethically, securely, and effectively to advance Harris Health's mission of innovative, high-quality community care. The Director will manage the system lifecycle of embedded and enterprise AI solutions, maintain an inventory of AI assets, monitor their usage and benefits, and ensure compliance with all organizational policies and applicable Texas and federal regulations on AI in healthcare. This role leads a team of AI specialists in the IT department and coordinates closely with stakeholders across procurement, legal, compliance, security, clinical operations, and the AI Governance Committee. The Director serves as the champion of responsible AI use, ensuring all AI systems deliver value while upholding the highest standards of patient safety, privacy, and ethics.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics, Data Science or related field Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence or related degree or certification preferred
Work Experience: Five (5) Years Work Experience in Healthcare preferred Eight (8) Years Work Experience in IT Systems, Microsoft, ServiceNow, data & analytics or related field required
Management Experience: Five (5) Years of Management Experience in Technology Project Management, Governance and Strategy, IT Operations or related field required
Communication Skills: Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking) Writing/Correspondence Writing/Reports
Proficiencies: MS Excel: Intermediate MS Word: Intermediate
