Visual Information Designer Job at Rivet Industries in Washington
Rivet Industries, Washington, DC, United States
Visual Information Designer
Rivet is hiring a Visual Information Designer to help translate strategic intent into clear, compelling visual expression across our most important audiences. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, narrative, and design. You will work from Rivet's foundational communication frameworks and help express them consistently and convincingly across executive, partner, customer, and public-facing contexts. The work requires strong design judgment, comfort with technical content, and an instinct for how visual clarity accelerates understanding and decision-making in high-stakes environments. Comfortability working with technical content and some experience in UI/UX design is strongly preferred.
Role Requirements
- A strong visual communicator with experience translating abstract or technical concepts into clear, compelling design.
- Comfort working from high-level guidance rather than detailed instructions.
- Excellent design judgment, attention to hierarchy, and sense of narrative flow.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines in a fast-moving environment.
- Some UI/UX experience is strongly preferred.
- The successful candidate will be an adaptable team player who is excited to join a fast-growing startup and contribute across several different projects.
- Advanced proficiency in modern presentation and visual design tools (e.g., PowerPoint or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of professional design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma).
- Ability to work across digital and print-oriented formats as needed.
- Experience supporting executive-level or enterprise audiences.
- Familiarity with defense, industrial, or other complex technical domains.
- Exposure to brand systems, templates, or scalable design frameworks.
- Comfortability working with both engineers and business strategists.
Responsibilities
- Translate strategy into visual clarity
- Support high-impact engagements
- Strengthen Rivet's visual message
- Design with context and intent
- Operate as a trusted creative partner
What Success Looks Like
- Rivet's materials feel cohesive, intentional, and unmistakably "Rivet," even as use cases and audiences vary.
- Complex ideas are easier to grasp, faster to brief, and more effective in driving alignment and momentum.
- Teams across the company trust the visual output as a force multipliernot just a finishing touch.
- Internal teams can move faster without sacrificing quality or consistency.

Final-round candidates may be invited to participate in a paid, time-boxed design assessment designed to simulate a real-world Rivet engagement. This assessment allows both Rivet and the candidate to evaluate working style, decision-making, and design approach in a realistic context.
