If interested please email my colleague [click apply] FREELANCE WRITER (CONTRACT) Alliance for Downtown New York seeks a freelance writer for a four-month contract to research, produce and publish web content surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. Under the direction of the Downtown Alliance Editorial Director, duties include writing short articles (300-500 words), guides and roundups about FIFA-related events and businesses in Lower Manhattan. We’re looking for a writer who can turn around clean, quick copy and has fresh ideas for enthusiastically promoting Lower Manhattan’s businesses to visitors, residents and workers in the area for the duration of the tournament. The temporary role will constitute about 10–15 hours of work per week from April through July, 2026, with the potential to extend. Copywriting, journalism or blogging experience required. Some experience with Wordpress is a plus, as is sports or food-writing. You must be based in the NYC-area to apply; the role requires one day per week in our Lower Manhattan office, and there may be some required on-the-ground reporting in the neighborhood. Pay is $1800–$2500/month for a total of $7200–$10,000 for the four-month term, commensurate with experience.
