True Advisory Role Serve as a trusted advisor helping business owners make critical decisions—not a product salesperson limited by a single solution.

Remote Flexibility Work from anywhere while building a national presence.

Your Role and Responsibilities Drive new business development by building relationships with business owners, executives, and strategic referral partners.

Develop and cultivate referral partnerships with CPAs, commercial insurance agents, benefits brokers, HR consultants, and other trusted business advisors.

Lead consultative discovery conversations with business owners to understand their needs and challenges.

Present tailored solutions and guide clients through the decision-making process.

Focus on relationship development, discovery, and closing new business while partnering with Merritt Business Solutions’ internal sales team, who provide comprehensive support including proposal preparation, provider coordination, and implementation management.

Serve as a founding leader in helping establish scalable business development processes and standards.

Collaborate with leadership to help build and develop the future consulting team.

Represent Merritt Business Solutions in the business community, at networking events, and within professional organizations.

Maintain consistent pipeline activity and relationship development.

This Role Is Not For Everyone This role requires initiative, discipline, and leadership.

It requires someone who:

Has proven success in PEO or HR outsourcing sales

Is comfortable building relationships and creating their own pipeline

Is motivated by ownership, autonomy, and long-term income

Has the ambition to help build and mentor a future sales team

Thrives without heavy corporate structure or micromanagement

This role is likely not a fit for someone who:

Relies primarily on inbound leads

Prefers defined territories and rigid corporate sales structures

Is uncomfortable with proactive networking and relationship building

Prefers transactional sales over consultative advisory relationships

Required Qualifications Direct PEO or HR outsourcing sales experience required.

Proven track record of generating new business and meeting or exceeding sales goals.

Demonstrated success building referral relationships with CPAs, insurance brokers, and business advisors.

5+ years of B2B sales experience in PEO, payroll, HRIS, employee benefits, or related HR services.

Strong consultative sales skills and executive-level communication ability.

Entrepreneurial mindset with leadership potential.

Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Base Salary $60-$70k plus residual commisson, 401k, PTO
