Emergent Method is seeking a dynamic project management, strategy, and/or communication professional to join our team as a consultant. This role will support a wide range of project management, strategic planning, and communication-related initiatives to support local and state government programs focused on infrastructure, resilience, and coastal protection and restoration. This is a full‑time position based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The ideal candidate for this role has strong communication, strategic planning, and project management skills; a strong work ethic driven by a keen attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment; and a willingness to learn, grow, and begin their career in management consulting.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting a variety of client projects and engagements related to strategic planning, research, data analytics, meeting/retreat facilitation, consensus building, and strategic communication
Using problem‑solving skills to identify client needs, define goals and objectives, and develop communication comprehensive, strategic deliverables aligned with client goals
Assisting with general project management, including developing project plans, timelines, and objectives; drafting key deliverables, such as plans, presentations, proposals, memos, and other documents, with careful attention to language, formatting, and consistency; and tracking action items, deadlines, and reporting on project milestones to deliver above‑satisfactory deliverables and work products
Learning and understanding a wide variety of subject matter related to client industries
Demonstrating true problem solving skills with a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and complete tasks and projects with minimal oversight to uphold the firm’s commitment to delivering client‑focused, exceptional work
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in business, political science, mass communication, communication studies, or a related field
Two to four years of experience in business management, project management, consulting, or related experience that demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; a keen attention to detail; and a commitment to deadlines, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and deliverables
The ability to work as a “utility” player and shift projects and priorities as needed
A proactive approach to completing tasks and taking ownership over timelines and work product
The ability to multitask, shifting from project to project and balancing competing priorities
A willingness to learn new skills and adopt new methodologies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in or with nonprofits, public sector organizations, or mission‑driven initiatives
Experience in the coastal, environmental, or resilience‑focused nonprofit space is a plus
