
Youth Ministry Resident

The Water’s Edge Church is a large, multi-generational church in the Southwest suburbs of Omaha, NE. Our mission is “to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and each other,” and the Youth Ministry is a growing area of our church with the potential to greatly impact youth in middle and high school age in this city. We are seeking a proven or developing leader who is a faithful Christ follower to join our youth ministry team.
About Our Residency Program: The Ministry Resident Program is designed to develop the next generation of leaders in the church through intentional personal, professional, and vocational training and mentoring. In partnership with Leadership Pathway, residents participate in a two-year hands-on ministry development program. To the best of their ability, residents will engage in learning, doing, and developing ministry at The Water’s Edge with a goal that by the time they complete their residency, they will be prepared to either step into a full-time ministry role at The Water’s Edge, or continue another path toward their call to ministry as a highly-desirable candidate.
Qualifications & Experience
A fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ, both in belief and practice
Ability to thrive in a high-paced, relationally oriented environment
A teachable attitude and spirit
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
Previous internship, staff, or volunteer experience in a church preferred
Undergraduate degree, or ability to complete the degree through/during residency preferred
General Responsibilities
Participate as a fully invested team member of The Water’s Edge Youth Ministry and church staff
Align with and live out of the mission, vision, and values of The Water's Edge
Attend and contribute to The Water’s Edge staff meetings
Participate in Church wide ministry events and activities as necessary
Assist ministry staff and leaders as it pertains to the mission, vision, and values of The Water’s Edge
Ministry Area Responsibilities
Attend and participate in Sunday Worship at The Water’s Edge
Attend and participate in planned Youth Ministry Activities
Develop ministry focused, Christ-centered relationships with students
Develop relationships with local ministries, churches, schools, and organizations
Assist in short and long-term ministry planning, organization, and implementation
Engage in Youth Ministry programming including trips, special events, and regular weekly gatherings
Speak in the absence of the Pastor of Youth Ministries, and at other times when assigned
Plan, budget, and execute events, activities, or trips, as assigned by the youth minister
Coordinate with the Pastor of Youth Ministries to develop and lead at least one new youth ministry opportunity for youth, volunteers, and/or families at The Water’s Edge each year of your residency
Additional work as it pertains to the mission and ministries of the church.
Residency Responsibilities
Participate in scheduled Ministry Resident training with Leadership Pathway Mentor
Meet regularly with the Pastor of Youth Ministry for coaching, training, and ministry planning
Attend outside training or conferences, as opportunities are available
Collaborate with other staff members to assist in learning the focus and scope of various ministries within the church
