Director of Financial Reporting

Overview A growing, vertically integrated real estate investment and operating platform is seeking a Controller to lead property accounting and financial reporting across a multifamily portfolio. This role will oversee the full close process and manage a distributed team of property accountants. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in scaling systems and processes within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities • Review and approve property-level financials in accordance with GAAP • Sign off on financial statements and reporting deliverables • Manage and mentor a team of remote/offshore property accountants • Oversee reconciliations, including bank, security deposits, taxes, and intercompany accounts • Partner with asset management on variance analysis and performance drivers • Supervise A/P, A/R, and cash management functions • Coordinate audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements • Drive process improvements and enhance internal controls • Build and improve reporting tools using Excel • Serve as system lead for Yardi • Oversee preparation and review of regulatory filings, including property income and expense xywuqvp reporting Qualifications • 8+ years of accounting experience, with a focus in real estate • Prior team management experience, including remote teams • Strong proficiency in Yardi and Excel • Deep understanding of accrual accounting and property-level financials • Experience with regulatory filings and compliance requirements • Strong organizational and communication skills
