
Director Storage and Backup Engineering

Principle Duties
Direct, manage, and supervise the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of physical and virtual data storage, including data protection (Backup, Recovery, DR), for on-prem and cloud-based platforms.
Define and develop technical standards and specifications in conjunction with Principal Engineers and Architects for data models, data security, and storage performance to support analytics tools and enable business intelligence and data mining activities.
Provide leadership in the architecture and design of storage infrastructure and oversee storage service solutions.
Oversee capacity planning for storage and data protection systems.
Oversee planning and execution of storage and data restoration for disaster recovery and disaster recovery exercises.
Provide guidance and direction on data storage best practices and ensure processes and procedures align with business objectives.
Maintains and fosters internal client relationships. Takes ownership of the relationship to ensure that clients' objectives are met. Partners with global business units and IT leaders to coordinate storage and backup activities.
Perform supervisory duties for a global team including, but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Mentor associates and continually develop engineering team competencies.
Collaborates with the application development and infrastructure teams on design of secure systems that protect against inappropriate access and/or data loss.
Provides regular status, operational reports, incident and change reports. Ensures adherence to procedures and standards for handling incidents, service requests, and change management.
Maintains current knowledge of industry practices, trends and applications.
Leads and manages large, complex storage and backup projects for plans the scope, develops schedules, monitors costs/budgets and allocates resources.
Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - Required
Master's degree and/or LOMA certification - Preferred
Work Experience
9+ years of relevant IT experience - Required
5+ years leading technical engineering teams - Required
3+ years managing storage and backup infrastructure - Required
5+ years managing NetApp, Cohesity, Pure infrastructure - Preferred
Skills and Abilities
Advance project management skills. Demonstrates an ability to evaluate project objectives and scope for feasibility, understanding, scheduling, and managing projects to budget and plan
Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received
Advanced investigative, analytical and complex problem solving skills
Ability to work well within a team environment, participate in department projects and balance detail with departmental objectives

Compensation Range $107,060.00 - $159,390.00 Annual
