Director of Human Resources

Role Overview Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Human Resources serves as a strategic business partner to corporate and facility leadership, driving strong employee relations, compliance, engagement, and talent outcomes. This self‑starter will own all HR functions across the organization, ensuring legal compliance, workforce effectiveness, and a positive culture that supports high performance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as Corporate HR Compliance Officer; ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, ADA, EEOC, OSHA, Title VII, PDA, HIPAA)
Lead employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action in partnership with leadership
Oversee talent acquisition systems (ATS), HRIS (Paycom), onboarding, and workforce planning
Drive employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and action planning; lead training and development programs
Manage benefits communication, workers’ compensation coordination, and HR policy administration
Develop, update, and maintain employee handbooks, policies, and corporate compliance training
Analyze workforce and retention trends using HR analytics to inform strategy and decision-making
Support executive leadership with succession planning, organizational design, and corporate initiatives
Analyze/modernize/optimize employee benefits packages
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
8–10 years of progressive HR experience
Strong working knowledge of employment law, employee relations, and compliance
Proven ability to partner with executives and manage sensitive issues with discretion
Healthcare or multi‑site operational experience including employment and health compliance laws
Preferred
SPHR certification
Experience leading HRIS/ATS implementations and audits
Strategic HR leadership with strong business acumen
Excellent communication, judgment, and conflict management skills
Data‑driven decision maker with strong analytical capabilities
Highly organized, adaptable, and results‑oriented
Collaborative leader who promotes accountability and engagement
Work Environment & Expectations
Onsite role based in the Cary, NC corporate office with regular visits to facilities statewide
Some overnight and conference travel required
May require occasional evening/weekend availability and emergency call‑back
Exposure risk typical of healthcare environments (training and PPE provided)
