Position Summary The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is an on-site employee facing role that serves as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the managers and employees at the locations they support. This individual operates with a high degree of independence and is expected to provide confident, sound judgment across a wide range of people-related matters while aligning HR strategies with business objectives. This role must navigate complex employee relations issues, conduct investigations, and guide leaders through performance management, organizational change, and challenging personnel decisions.
The HRBP engages with leaders and employees at all levels, effectively influencing both upward and downward. As the primary HR presence for their assigned sites, the HRBP acts as an extension of the broader HR function, partnering closely with Corporate HR and supporting the execution of cross-functional HR initiatives, including talent management, payroll, ER, and compliance-related activities. Building strong, trusted relationships with operations and leadership teams is critical to success in this role, as is the ability to proactively identify risks, recommend solutions, and drive positive cultural outcomes.
This position supports multiple sites across North America, including Canada, and requires regular travel to assigned locations and the corporate office in Cranston, RI.
Measures of Success
Improved retention or engagements trends based on eNPS at assigned sites.
Reduction in repeat ER issues year over year.
On‑time execution of cross‑functional HR initiatives at supported sites.
100% of ER investigations / disciplinary actions completed within established timelines and practices.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinates alignment of business objectives with employees and management in designated business units.
Develops partnerships across the HR function to deliver value‑added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.
Supports HR functions at local sites, triage issues and direct employees to correct points of contact.
Ensures consistency, compliance, and fair treatment of employees.
Develops strategies to strengthen relationships between HR and the sites they support.
Guides, influences and collaborates with managers on employee inquiries, performance process, coaching, counseling, documentation, and termination requests; provides guidance on HR policy and practices.
Works with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Proactively identifies retention issues and provides timely and proper solutions.
Consults with Operations management on Human Resources related issues and provides guidance when appropriate.
Evaluates and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates needs with the HR Department and business management.
Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, addresses employee concerns, and conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
Supports their manager in sensitive and confidential matters such as personnel actions, employee relations, and organization changes.
Protects the security of information, data, and files.
Drives completion of new hire onboarding actions, training compliance, basic payroll questions, leave paperwork initiation, and other cross functional needs.
Maintains and coordinates end‑to‑end employee recognition programs at the sites they support.
Completes monthly reporting metrics (Exit interviews, Retention, etc.)
Stay up to date on HR trends and best practices as well as employment laws and regulations across North America.
Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the business areas supported.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, or related field required; MBA preferred
7+ years’ experience in diverse fast paced or high volume Human Resources roles including Employee Relations
Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Certified Human Resources Specialist or related required; Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred
Highly proficient in MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work independently with day‑to‑day functions
Able to pivot quickly and effectively transition between tasks
Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to work respectfully and effectively with all levels
Analytical/technical thinking; project management skills; initiative/creativity
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, often under time pressures
Must have in depth knowledge of how to access data in HRIS system and reporting; Workday preferred
Excellent critical thinking skills, ability to diagnose problems, resolve conflict, and develop practical solutions
Knowledge of relevant employment laws, and labor relations and broad knowledge of all functional areas across HR
Strong organizational, project management, and change management skills required
Proficient writing and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese)
Work Environment This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Daily exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
Onsite – This position reports into the site every day.
Management This position has no direct reports.
Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and certifications.
Salary range: $75,292 USD - $105,409 USD
