Position:
County Director 2, Child Welfare Services Location: Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia Pay Grade: M
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assure agency compliance with policies, appropriate documentation and reporting requirements.
Build and encourage a cooperative team‑oriented environment within unit(s) and with other agencies and providers.
Create and maintain positive working relationships within the community and on the county DFCS Board.
Develop, administer, and maintain budgets.
Facilitate communication within the unit(s)/agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure/policy level.
Interview, hire, direct, train, evaluate the performance of, and when necessary, discipline and discharge social services employees.
Lead and administer a comprehensive system of public assistance, employability and social services.
Manage human services and direct administrative activities for groups of social services employees.
Plan, administer, and maintain the operation of social services programs.
Review new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with state, local and federal regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and at least three (3) years of supervisory experience in a human service delivery program.
OR Bachelor’s degree in a related area and at least one (1) year of experience at the lower level County Director 1, Child Welfare Services (SSM070) or position equivalent.
Related qualifications: social work, behavioral science, social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health and public administration.
Related experience: provision of services in a social services environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of human service work experience, including supervision of subordinate directors, managers or supervisors in a human services delivery program (e.g., DFCS, DCSS, DAS, DJJ or comparable agencies).
