The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) is seeking applicants for the position of County Director 1, Child Welfare Services. This position is located in Oglethorpe, Macon County, Georgia.

Job Responsibilities
Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of existing programs to ensure the identified outcome measures are achieved.
Assures agency compliance with policies, appropriate documentation, and reporting requirements.
Builds and encourages a cooperative team‑oriented environment within unit(s) and with other agencies and providers.
Creates and maintains positive working relationships within the community and on the county DFCS Board.
Develops and administers budgets.
Facilitates communication within the unit(s)/agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure/policy level.
Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges social services employees.
Leads and administers a comprehensive system of public assistance, employability, and social services.
Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for groups of social services employees.
Plans, administers, and maintains the operation of social services programs.
Reviews new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local and federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of supervisory experience in a human service delivery program.
Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of experience at the lower level Child Welfare Svcs Spec Spv (SSP073) or position equivalent.
Related qualifications include social work and behavioral science degrees, including but not limited to social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health and public administration. Related experience includes the provision of services in a social services environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) or more years supervisory work experience with DFCS or comparable child welfare agency managing Child Protective Services (CPS), Foster Care and/or Adoptions.
