Job Description This position works under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Retention and Outreach and is responsible for direct oversight and administration of federally funded college‑level programs and Student Support initiatives at UNLV. Programs include TRIO Student Support Services grants, TRIO Ronald E. McNair Post‑baccalaureate Achievement Program, Title III AANAPISI, Basic Needs, Hope and Fostering Scholars, SNAP E&T, Emergency Scholarships, Food Pantry, and related projects.

The senior director is accountable for consistently meeting all objectives outlined in each grant proposal, ensuring provision of Basic Needs and Emergency Support services to current UNLV students, submitting quarterly and annual performance reports, handling participant identification and placement, promoting services, planning short and long‑term activities, directing program services, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with federal, state and university mandates.

The senior director provides effective leadership and supervision to a staff of administrative faculty, classified employees, graduate assistants, temporary students, and other hourly workers; promotes collaboration among all programs housed at CAEO; maintains a well‑functioning secondary‑to‑post‑baccalaureate pipeline; and serves as an advocate and liaison with institutional, regional, state and federal agencies, community organizations and the public.

Responsibilities

Oversee and administer federally funded programs and student support initiatives.

Ensure compliance with grant and funding requirements, including reporting and budgeting.

Provide Basic Needs and Emergency Support services to students, managing services such as food pantry, emergency funding, SNAP navigation and referrals.

Identify and select program participants and place them to maximize benefit.

Promote services and publicize program benefits through outreach.

Plan short‑ and long‑term program activities and maintain alignment with federal, state and university mandates.

Supervise staff, including recruitment, training and performance management.

Collaborate with CAEO leadership, university departments and community partners to ensure effective program administration.

Serve as a liaison with host institution, local, state and federal agencies and community organizations.

Contribute to grant‑related research supporting the vision and mission of CAEO.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of seven (7) years of comparable experience.

Experience coordinating or managing federally funded TRIO, GEAR UP or similar projects, including budget development and management.

Knowledge of federal compliance requirements, statutory and regulatory mandates.

Personnel supervision and staff training experience.

Proficiency in writing funding reports and grant documentation.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Comprehensive understanding of the Title III and Title IV TRIO Programs and associated legislation and regulations.

Experience with counseling and instructional evaluation methods, program coordination, marketing, and supervisory strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral Degree and ten (10+) years of related professional experience.

Significant experience collaborating with organizational personnel and community partners on high‑level initiatives in higher education.

Direct experience managing AANAPISI, GEAR UP, social services or similar grant‑funded projects.

Advanced leadership and interpersonal communication skills.

Effective time‑management and computer skills.

Experience overseeing online communication with students.
