Assistant Director of Finance
MML Hospitality, New York, NY, United States
About MML
At McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality (MML), we create unforgettable experiences that bring together food, service, and design under the leadership of Larry McGuire, Tom Moorman, and Liz Lambert. MML owns and operates each of its properties, choosing projects that align with our vision and values. In 2024, we proudly expanded to New York City with the acquisition of Nine Orchard, a landmark hotel on the Lower East Side featuring more than seven distinctive food and beverage outlets.
The Role The Assistant Director of Finance (ADOF) is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations. While maintaining a strong focus on our high-volume Food & Beverage operations, the ADOF has a broader mandate: ensuring the financial integrity of the entire property. You will lead the month-end close, mentor the accounting team, and serve as the Director of Finance’s right hand in strategic planning, budgeting, and internal audit compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Departmental Leadership: Assist in overseeing the daily workflow of the accounting office, ensuring that accounts payable, receivable, and income audit functions are executed accurately and on schedule.
F&B Financial Oversight: Act as the final reviewer for the Daily Revenue Report (DRR), ensuring perfect synchronization between Toast POS, Tripleseat, and the General Ledger.
Month-End Mastery: Lead the month-end closing process for the F&B operation. Prepare financial statements, execute complex accruals, and ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed and reviewed.
Compliance & Internal Audit: Maintain and enforce a rigorous system of internal controls. Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and ensure compliance with GAAP and ownership reporting requirements.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Partner with the Director of Finance to develop the annual operating budget and monthly re-forecasts. Provide departmental heads with the data needed to manage their "line-by-line" expenses.
Cash & Asset Management: Monitor cash flow, oversee capital expenditure (CapEx) tracking, and ensure fixed asset ledgers are accurately maintained.
Payroll & Tax: Oversee the final audit of property-wide payroll, including complex tip distributions and sales/occupancy tax filings.
