Position Title Director of Catering

Salary $105,000 - $115,000

Job Summary Working as the director of catering you are responsible for maintaining and establishing all costs and quality standards to ensure superior service and to maximize profits. You will work independently with a direct line to the client, maintaining excellent relationships with employees, guests and the client. You will promote the professional growth and development of the entire team and foster strong interdepartmental relations, integrating the catering service department with the facility plan of operations.

Key Responsibilities

Partner closely with Operations Managers and Catering Managers across the account to ensure all catering events are executed consistently and in line with company and client standards.

Ensure high levels of customer service for each event.

Interview, hire, train, and assist with scheduling all butlers and captains within the local staffing pool.

Conduct orientation for all Catering Managers regarding company standards of service.

Handle and resolve all employee relations issues in partnership with the team.

Execute coaching, counseling and follow‑up training for all employees according to company policies and procedures.

Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Support Catering Managers with staffing budgets and maintain financial accountabilities related to service.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.

Strong knowledge of food, industry trends and fine dining points of service.

4–6 years of experience managing catering events.

Ability to supervise food service and cleanup.

TIPS certification required.

ServSafe certification recommended.

Superior quantitative, oral and written communication and problem‑solving/strategizing skills.

Excellent overall computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.

Proactive mindset to anticipate and support changes in our business.
