
Director of Accounting

We are seeking a highly driven and detail-oriented Director of Accounting to lead our accounting operations within a fast-growing, private equity-backed healthcare organization. This role will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls, while partnering closely with executive leadership and private equity sponsors to support strategic growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Oversee preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements and supporting schedules
Ensure compliance with private equity reporting requirements, including lender and investor reporting packages
Technical Accounting & Compliance
Research and implement technical accounting guidance (ASC 606, leases, revenue recognition, etc.)
Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures
Coordinate with external auditors and manage annual audit process
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Establish and maintain strong internal controls and SOX readiness (if applicable)
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency through automation and system enhancements
Drive standardization across multiple locations or entities
Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing accounting team
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Provide coaching and development opportunities for staff
Private Equity & Strategic Support
Partner with CFO and PE sponsors on financial insights and performance metrics
Support M&A activity, including due diligence, integration, and purchase accounting
Assist with cash flow forecasting and operational performance tracking
Systems & Infrastructure
Oversee ERP and financial systems optimization (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar)
Ensure data integrity across billing, revenue cycle, and accounting systems
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA (Required)
8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth environments required
Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred (multi-site, physician groups, MSOs, etc.)
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements
Proven experience managing audits and working with external auditors
Experience with ERP systems and process automation tools
Strong leadership and team development skills
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
High attention to detail with a strategic mindset
Excellent communication skills with ability to interface with executives and investors
