Job Summary James M Hull College of Business at Augusta University seeks qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure‑track faculty position in Marketing Assistant Professor at the rank of Assistant Professor. The role requires a demonstrated capability or potential in developing discipline‑relevant peer‑reviewed intellectual contributions. About 40% of the workload will be dedicated to research and faculty development. Course load will be 2–3 courses per semester term, or about 50% of workload. Candidates should be prepared to deliver courses online, as hybrid online/face‑to‑face, or face‑to‑face with a strong preference for those who can combine these approaches in an assigned section.
Responsibilities
Teaching (50%) – Course load 2–3 courses per semester term.
Service (10%) – Service on college committees.
Scholarship (40%) – Research and faculty development.
Required Qualifications Applicants must hold (or receive before start of employment) a Ph.D. in marketing or a closely related field. Demonstrated capability or potential in developing discipline‑relevant peer‑reviewed intellectual contributions is required. Equally important is the demonstrated capability or potential for teaching excellence within the discipline. Experience in hospitality is required. Assistant Professor – early‑level career as a faculty member.
Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)’s requirements for institutional accreditation;
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Effective teaching experience in digital marketing and/or social media at the undergraduate level is preferred. A record of excellence in teaching and learning is desired, along with excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Published or forthcoming peer‑reviewed publications in the marketing and related disciplines are a plus, as is prior work experience in digital marketing and/or social media. Interest in interaction and relationship‑building with local businesses, industry, and stakeholders is a plus, as well as having online teaching experience.
Shift / Salary / Benefits This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in the offer letter and yearly contract.
The intended work commitment or full‑time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.
Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; the salary is subject to availability of funds.
