Salary: Minimum $500 for the contract period

Summary The Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University seeks a Coadjutant – Copy Editor to support the Communications Office. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications, the coadjutant will be responsible for reviewing and editing written content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across various platforms and publications.

Key Responsibilities

Provide copy editing services for a wide range of materials.

Ensure all copy adheres to the school's editorial guidelines, AP style, and university branding standards.

Fact‑check names, dates, and other critical information for accuracy.

Collaborate with the Communications team and other departments to support content development projects.

Suggest improvements in tone, structure, and grammar for clarity and impact.

Assist with proofreading print and digital materials before publication or distribution.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

At least 2 years of professional experience in copy editing, proofreading, or journalism.

Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and style (especially AP style).

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience in higher education or the arts is a plus.
