
Construction Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support the development of accurate, comprehensive budgets and cost estimates for ground-up multifamily affordable housing developments and rehabilitation projects located primarily throughout New York’s Hudson Valley.
The Estimator will work closely with the Director of Estimating & Purchasing, as well as project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, to identify cost drivers, anticipate scope gaps, and proactively develop complete and reliable estimates, even when documents are incomplete or evolving.
Responsibilities
Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates for ground-up multifamily and rehabilitation projects
Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications across all major trades
Review architectural, structural, MEP, and civil drawings to identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and cost risks
Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure competitive and complete pricing
Develop and maintain project budgets, cost breakdowns, and pricing narratives
Collaborate with internal teams to support procurement strategies, value engineering, and buyout planning
Track historical cost data and market trends to inform future estimates
Participate in design and preconstruction meetings to provide cost input and recommendations
Support project teams through transitions from estimating into construction
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with multifamily ground-up and/or affordable housing projects
Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing
Proven ability to prepare budgets from incomplete or evolving documents
Experience working closely with project management and preconstruction teams
Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and takeoff tools
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Experience
Affordable housing, mixed-income, or publicly funded multifamily projects
Familiarity with budgeting and value engineering
