
Senior Mortgage Banker
New Horizon Bank, Richmond, VA, United States
The Mortgage Banker is responsible for evaluating, processing, and closing mortgage loan applications, as well as providing excellent customer service and building relationships with clients. Success for this role will be achieved by helping clients realize and meet their financial goals by responsibly advising them throughout the mortgage loan process, from application to closing. The Mortgage Banker will identify client needs, meet loan production goals, and work to ensure the company’s expectations for customer satisfaction are achieved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with clients to understand their financial situation and goals
Educate clients about various mortgage options and recommend appropriate products
Assist clients in completing mortgage applications. Collect and review all necessary loan documentation
Assess the client’s credit history and financial status
Submit completed loan applications to underwriting, both internally and through third party correspondents
Build and maintain strong relationships with real estate agents, referral partners, including internal team members
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies
Provide exceptional customer service throughout the mortgage process and beyond
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication, negotiation, interpersonal, verbal and written skills
Customer-focused with a proven track record of driving results in a sales-oriented environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education and Experience:
3+ years of experience as a Mortgage Banker
2+ years of experience with FHA, FNMA, FHLMC, and/or VA loans
Strong knowledge of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, legal regulations, and loan origination processes
Ability to make sound mortgage recommendations based on research, personal expertise, and customers’ financial backgrounds
Complete understanding of agency, government, and investor requirements
Proficient in loan origination systems (LOS) and Microsoft Office Suite
Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., NMLS)
