Job Title
This position is responsible for answering questions in person and via telephone, preparing and imaging legal documents, performing data entry, preparing copies of official documents, and performing related duties as required. Major Duties
Provides customer service in person and by telephone. Responds to inquiries and refers calls to other departments as appropriate. Examines documents to be scanned for legibility and sufficient recording and indexing information. Adjusts scanning equipment to correct optical settings for exposure, density, and resolution. Scans documents and monitors the screen image to ensure proper recording. Performs quality assurance on scanned documents. Processes incoming mail. Makes trips to the post office and/or bank. Makes plain and certified copies of legal documents. Performs general clerical duties. Retrieves case files, boxes, and books from storage to satisfy daily requests from various sections of the office and transports requested items. Refiles and interfiles case files, loose paperwork, boxes, and books to their proper locations. Maintains the security and confidentiality of records stored. Maintains a safe, clean work environment. Coordinates with administration on the transfer of permanent records from the courthouse to the records warehouse for storage. Coordinates with administration in identifying and pulling records eligible for destruction; organizes and prepares eligible files and documents for shredding. Performs any other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of modern office procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Skill in the provision of customer services. Skill in oral and written communication. Must, at all times, maintain confidentiality. Must be accurate and attentive to detail. Must have experience in the use of office equipment. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language. Familiarize yourself with the Retention Schedule from the Texas State Library. Minimum Qualifications
Must have a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Must be able to type 30 wpm, preferred. Supplemental Information

Occasionally: Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces. Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment. Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business. Working in low temperatures. Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds. Constantly: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Adjusting or moving objects up to 35 pounds in all directions. Communicating with others to exchange information. Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles.
