
Law and Motion Attorney

We are an established real estate law firm with six offices across California. We are hiring a Law and Motion Attorney to join our landlord tenant team in San Diego. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the firm in the filing and trying of unlawful detainer cases on behalf of our clients.
Compensation $100,000-$170,000/annually
Responsibilities
Draft motions and oppositions for unlawful detainer cases, including oppositions to demurrers, motions to quash, motions to strike, motions to set aside judgments, motions for new trials, bankruptcy motions for relief from stay, and federal motions to remand
Facilitate the discovery phase for new cases by propounding and responding to discovery
Draft and negotiate stipulations and settlement agreements
Prepare cases for trial, including drafting of trial briefs, motions in limine, exhibit lists, witness lists, and jury trial documents
Perform legal research and provide recommendations to clients, staff, and fellow attorneys on legal issues
Respond to client questions and concerns in order to increase and retain business
Assist with occasional court appearances
Attend local property management events to increase firm visibility and business
Required Qualifications
J.D. and an active California Bar license
2+ years’ experience as a licensed California attorney
General overview of civil litigation
Strong research and writing skills
Familiarity with Lexis or other legal research software
Preferred Qualifications
Some contact with the rental housing industry
Landlord-tenant law experience
Experience with case management database(s)
Schedule Position is full-time, exempt. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday. We currently offer hybrid models for select positions within the Firm. New hire employees will complete their onboarding and training in office as deemed necessary for the position by the firm before becoming eligible for a hybrid schedule.
