Complex Director Position
The Office of University Housing and Dining Services at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois, is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Complex Director. The Complex Director’s primary focus will be to establish outstanding residential communities that promote student success. The Complex Director will also coordinate the implementation of the Panther Success Initiative Residential Curriculum in our residential communities, which consist of 400-500 students in each residential area. PSI fosters student success through the intentional personal and academic development of each resident. It is expected that our professional staff build meaningful connections with students. These relationships are created through assisting residents in reaching their goals, connecting students to faculty, embracing integrative learning concepts, promoting cultural competence, and designing educational opportunities which meet the needs of students.
Position Description The Complex Director supervises and mentors a residential life staff consisting of 2-5 Associate Resident Directors, 10-16 Resident Assistants, and indirectly supervises other student staff members. The Complex Director assists with the overall operation of the residential life program by serving as a member of the Residential Life Leadership Team. In addition, each Complex Director will chair departmental committees and serve on university-wide committees. This individual directs community development, student development, social justice education, hall government advisement, housing assignments, staff selection, staff training, student conduct, crisis intervention, residential curriculum initiatives, and coordination of summer programs within their residential area. This is a full-time, 12‑month, live‑in, professional staff position that includes a meal plan to promote community development and policy enforcement for staff and students in our dining facilities. The Complex Director also serves on the Senior Staff Crisis on‑call rotation.
Starting Date June 1, 2026 (negotiable)
Qualifications
Masters degree required by May 20
Progressive experience in residential life/university housing preferred but not required. The successful candidate must possess highly developed interpersonal skills, supervisory skills, multicultural programming experience, student leadership/advising experience, and robust administrative proficiencies.
