Purpose:
The Director of Business Development is responsible for supporting the overall business development and management of strategic partnerships across Vanscoy Rare Pharmacy’s (VRP) portfolio. The Director will drive sales of commercial pharmacy dispensing and patient support programs and opportunities for targeted life sciences organizations. The Director will also work to drive sales of ancillary services to new and existing customers, including non-commercial pharmacy services, technology offerings, copay program services, and more. The Director is responsible for serving as a primary point of contact for current and future customers including coordination with VRP’s implementation team and resolving escalations associated with accounts. This position reports to the Vice President of Markets & Strategy.
Responsibilities:
Identify target customers to earn and respond to RFIs and RFPs to build portfolio of strategic partnerships within the complex and rare medicine markets
Review potential business development opportunities with the senior leadership team to determine overall organizational strategic fit with focus and current capabilities
Construct and deliver customized presentations for prospective clients which demonstrate VRP’s capabilities, experience, strategic advantages, and a thorough understanding of the client, product, disease state and relevant patient population
Construct resourcing and pricing models based on the size and type of each opportunity
Maintain the contract management system, including input of contract requests, management of expiring agreements, and uploading relevant documents.
Drafts, reviews, and edits contracts for relationships with partners and vendors to achieve VRP’s desired contractual outcomes
Initiate new contracts and contract renewals and partner with VRP Leadership, Compliance, Operations and other various departments to ensure contracts are aligned with program activities
Identify opportunities to market additional services to new and existing partners
Attend various industry conferences to network with prospective partners
Assist in the creation of targeted industry publications and other marketing material
Manage a portfolio of strategic partners and clients including all aspects of existing and potential key business relationships
Develop, update and share a pipeline report including status of new and current opportunities and other business development related metrics
Oversee and collaborate with implementations teams to build out and management of programs and services requested by external partners and clients.
Interface with key account leadership and staff as needed for escalations and expansion of existing client services
Manage delivery and communication of program performance reporting to external partners as it relates to organization’s services
Recruit, hire, and manage staff necessary to support the acquisition and management of strategic partners, programs, and accounts
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
5+ years of previous experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturer, pharmacy, HUB provider, or other relevant healthcare entity.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a focus on customer satisfaction
Ability to act as a self-starter and proactively create and manage a pipeline of potential opportunities with minimal oversight
Willingness to periodically travel to support conference attendance
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong time management skills and ability to manage deliverables
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships
Healthcare industry experience including in-depth knowledge of HIPAA law and other relevant healthcare laws and regulations
Strong network of professionals within life sciences companies
Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to problem solve
VRP offers a hybrid work structure, combining remote work and in-office requirements. The frequency of onsite requirements will vary depending on role, operational needs, meetings, client visits, or team collaboration activities. Employees must be within commuting distance to Pittsburgh, PA, and able to report to the office when needed. We will provide advance notice when possible. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. When telecommuting, employees must have reliable internet access to utilize required systems and software required for the position's responsibilities. The amount of time the employee is expected to work per day or pay period will not change while working from home. Employees are responsible for the set-up of their home office environment, including physical set-up, internet connection, phone line, electricity, lighting, comfortable temperature, furniture, etc. Employee’s teleworking space should be separate and distinct from their “home space” and allow for privacy.
