We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Transportation to lead and optimize all transportation operations, with a strong emphasis on heavy haul logistics, fleet management, and operational forecasting. This individual will oversee day‑to‑day transportation activities, develop long‑term strategies, and ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective movement of equipment and materials.
Salary $100,000 - $115,000 per year.

Responsibilities
Lead all transportation operations, including heavy haul and specialized freight movement, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Oversee and optimize fleet management, including maintenance programs, asset utilization, lifecycle planning, and capital expenditures.
Develop and manage transportation forecasting models to support business planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, cost, delivery performance, and equipment utilization.
Direct and mentor transportation staff, including dispatch, drivers, and logistics personnel.
Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and all applicable safety and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with internal teams (operations, project management, procurement) to align transportation strategies with business needs.
Manage relationships with third‑party carriers, brokers, and vendors as needed.
Oversee permitting and routing for oversized/overweight loads, including coordination with local and state agencies.
Implement process improvements and technology solutions to enhance efficiency and visibility.
Develop and manage departmental budgets, controlling costs while maintaining high service levels.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain leadership.
Proven experience with heavy haul / oversized load transportation.
Strong background in fleet management, including maintenance, compliance, and optimization.
Experience with forecasting, budgeting, and operational planning.
In-depth knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and transportation compliance.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office (Excel preferred).
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
