Technical Copywriter

Base pay range $60,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr Overview A tech startup in the downtown Chicago area is seeking a sharp and strategic Technical Copywriter to help translate complex product and cybersecurity concepts into clear, compelling, and trustworthy content. The ideal candidate is someone currently working in an agency setting in a brand-focused role with demonstrated ability to communicate technical depth to both technical and non-technical audiences. Responsibilities Write clear, accurate, and compelling content that explains company values and technical capabilities to enterprise customers. Create and refine sales and marketing assets including: Solution briefs Product one-pagers White papers Technical blog posts Discovery documents Partner with product, engineering, sales, and leadership to gather insights and ensure content accuracy. Build trusted relationships with C-level stakeholders to understand key messaging needs. Translate complex cybersecurity and SaaS topics into approachable, persuasive language for multiple audiences. Maintain and evolve company's technical voice—keeping it smart, sharp, and human. Edit and elevate rough copy from internal teams to ensure consistency, clarity, and polish. Support onboarding, implementation, and product documentation initiatives. Stay current on industry trends in cybersecurity, SaaS, and enterprise technology. Qualifications 5–7+ years of writing experience, ideally in technical content, enterprise SaaS, or B2B product marketing. Proven track record of producing clear and engaging content from complex technical subject matter. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; experience formatting executive-facing content. Experience collaborating directly with C-level stakeholders and subject matter experts. Cybersecurity, infrastructure, or enterprise tech writing experience strongly preferred. Exceptional writing, editing, and structuring skills with strong attention to clarity and flow. Highly self-directed, intuitive, and comfortable working at pace with limited oversight.
