Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Staging Designer to support our growing project volume and work closely with our Creative Director.
This is not an entry-level role.
We are looking for someone who can step into projects with confidence, contribute to design direction, and execute installs at a high level.
This role is ideal for someone with real-world staging or interior design experience who is comfortable making decisions on site, leading portions of installs, and helping maintain a high standard of design across all projects.
Key Responsibilities Staging Design & Project Execution
Collaborate on staging concepts for residential listings
Lead or support staging installs and styling days
Arrange furniture, décor, and accessories to optimize flow and visual impact
Execute design plans with minimal oversight
Step into a leadership role on-site when needed
Project Preparation & Support
Assist with project planning, sourcing, and selection of furnishings and accessories
Help prepare inventory and materials ahead of installs
Attend site visits as needed
Ensure each project is completed to a high design standard
Inventory & Styling Standards
Work closely with the team to maintain quality and consistency across inventory
Support organization and upkeep of staging materials
Provide input on future inventory needs and design direction
Work directly with the Creative Director to bring each project to life
Help guide and support more junior team members on installs
Communicate clearly with the team on timelines, needs, and execution
Ideal Candidate Profile This role is a strong fit for someone who is:
Experienced in staging or interior design with a strong portfolio of real installs
Confident in their design instincts and decision‑making
Detail‑oriented with a strong eye for composition, scale, and flow
Comfortable in fast‑paced, hands‑on environments
Collaborative, reliable, and able to take ownership of their work
Experience Requirements
2–5+ years of experience in home staging or interior design
Proven experience with real‑world installs, not just conceptual work
Ability to independently execute design decisions on site
Preferred
Experience working with a staging company
Familiarity with higher‑end or luxury residential properties
Strong styling and finishing instincts
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move light to medium furniture and décor
Comfortable standing, bending, and working on‑site during installs and destages
Staging is a physically active industry
Part‑time or project‑based to start, with opportunity to grow
$30–$35 per hour, based on experience
On‑site work in the Washington, DC area (local staging projects)
As Alder & Ash Interiors continues to expand, this role has the potential to grow into a Lead Designer position with increased responsibility and consistent project flow.
