
Jr. Textile Designer

This position provides administrative and operational support to the Senior Designer while also contributing to the design and development of Zak + Fox collections. This role is well suited for a creative, detail-oriented designer with a foundation in textiles (home textiles a plus). The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities while navigating the creative process.
The primary focus of the role is coordination, organization, tracking, and asset preparation to ensure projects move forward efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Develop designs from initial inspiration to exploring scale, material, repeat, layout, colors, etc.
Translate the Z+F aesthetic into designs that align with the Zak + Fox creative identity
Create production-ready artwork, including seamless repeats
Execute tech packs, color blankets, Drawing For Approval (DFA)requests for rugs, etc.
Prepare, print, and send color chips and/or artwork for development packages
Maintain and organize the design studio and archive, both physically and digitally
Receive and track samples at every phase of the development process
Support file, sample, and information management between departments
Complete daily communication with mill partners
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design or related field
Minimum 1 year of design experience (home textiles preferred)
Understanding of printed and woven textiles, knowledge of wallpaper and rugs a plus
Fully proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT)
Strong sketching, drawing, and illustrative skills
Strong sense of color, design, and construction
Highly organized, detail oriented, appreciates efficiency
Excellent time management and communication skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively
Self-starter with a positive, adaptable, and can-do attitude
Passion for art, design, fashion, and textiles
