Building Principal STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 elementary endorsement Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with teachers, students, parents and staff Ability to informally assess learning and behavioral needs of students RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student in the classroom, focusing on academic, social, communication, and behavioral goals. Plan and deliver engaging lessons using evidence-based strategies and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Knowledge of evidence-based practices (such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Structured Teaching, and Visual Supports). Implement the approved curriculum with fidelity. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress, discuss strategies for supporting learning and behavior at home, and collaborate on IEP development and implementation. Implement positive behavior support strategies and proactive interventions to promote a positive and supportive learning environment, including the use of visual supports, structured routines, and sensory accommodations. Collect data on student progress toward IEP goals and objectives, analyze data to inform instructional decision-making, and adjust teaching strategies as needed to maximize student learning outcomes. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices. Perform any other duties as assigned by building principal or student support services administrators.
