Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Position Overview: Cook Children’s is seeking a detail-oriented
Medical Billing Specialist
to join our Home Health Billing team on a
6-month contract . This role focuses on managing claim denials, submitting appeals, and ensuring that all required documentation is uploaded into our billing system. While training will be provided, candidates must have a strong foundation in medical billing and collections. Key Responsibilities: Review and update denial reasons using Excel spreadsheets Upload required documentation (e.g., prior authorizations, supporting records) into billing systems Assist in the submission of claim reconsiderations and appeals Collaborate with the team to resolve billing issues Verify insurance benefits, coverage guidelines, and prior authorization requirements Utilize CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 codes appropriately Must-Have Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 1–2 years of
medical billing and/or collections experience Working knowledge of
Commercial and Medicaid insurance plans Basic understanding of
medical benefits verification
and
coverage guidelines Experience with
claim denials, appeals, and reconsiderations Familiarity with
CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 coding Must be willing to receive a
flu vaccine Preferred Qualifications: DME (Durable Medical Equipment)
billing experience Experience working in a
Home Health
