
Medical Assistant/LPN - Gastroenterology - Gulf Breeze

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Medical Assistant assists with patient care management, executes administrative and clinical procedures, and provides exceptional medical care that meets each patient's physical, mental, and emotional needs. The role involves providing administrative and clinical assistance to physicians, mid-level practitioners, nurses, and patients while adhering to prescribed treatment plans and established policies and procedures.
The person works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may work over 40 hours per week, and may be required to remain on campus during severe weather or disasters.
RESPONSIBILITIES Perform essential duties in medical assisting, including:
Administrative and clinical tasks as directed.
Assisting physicians and nursing staff.
Following treatment plans and institutional policies.
QUALIFICATIONS Medical Assistant
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Successful completion of an accredited medical assisting program or graduation from a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces (preferred).
Certification or registration by day of hire with one of the following: AAMA Certified, AMT Registered with active membership, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, NRCMA, or AMCA.
BLS certification via American Heart Association required within 30 days of employment.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical law, ethics, human relations, patient education, and administrative and clinical medical assisting.
Basic computer skills and ability to perform EKGs and obtain accurate blood pressure readings.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Graduate of a practical nursing program.
Current LPN license in the State of Florida.
Proficiency in reading and understanding English.
Knowledge of patient care charts, histories, clinical and surgical operations, documentation, evaluation, triage procedures, supplies, equipment, inventory control, medication administration, and appropriate patient care aids.
Proficient computer skills and excellent verbal and written communication.
BLS certification with American Heart Association.
