Parts Counter Person – Empire Automotive Group Nissan of Hillside
We are seeking an experienced Auto Parts Counter Person to join our team. This role requires a career-minded, customer-focused individual with prior experience in auto parts sales. Responsibilities include a combination of salary and commission, driven by team success, and working closely with technicians to contribute to the growth of the store. Physical strength and stamina are essential, as the job involves lifting, squatting, and carrying heavy items.
Responsibilities
Oversees the parts sales process from start to finish.
Communicates with staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Converse effectively/efficiently regarding customer parts status.
Reads and understands the parts catalog when looking up and speaking to specific parts.
Answers phone calls and provides price quotes and other information to customers.
Reviews body shop estimates to verify the parts ordered are correct, and all pricing is in line with the estimate.
Provides high level service to both internal and external customers.
Pulls/fills orders from stock and maintains weekly bin checks to ensure accuracy of stock.
Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
Locates out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submits an emergency order, if necessary.
Ensures all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair order.
Receives payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and auto parts sales experience (preferred).
Eager to improve in a dynamic work environment.
Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
Parts counter experience at import dealership preferred.
Ability to read/interpret safety and maintenance documents.
Ability to calculate figures/amounts including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, %, area, circumference, and volume.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Understanding of listening and empathy.
Strong work ethic with ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
Experience providing outstanding customer service by showcasing expertise, fostering trust, and growing customer satisfaction.
Friendliness, enthusiasm, reliability, with a positive "team-player" attitude.
Open to constructive feedback to improve performance and development.
Flexible with work scheduling and availability to work weekends and holidays.
Strong computer and multitasking skills.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
