Overview
We are seeking a Senior Compensation Specialist to join our Total Rewards team in Denver, CO or Tampa, FL. In the role, reporting to the Total Rewards Director, you will lead key components of the annual compensation cycle, provide expert guidance to HR and business leaders, and deliver advanced market and internal equity analyses of AtkinsRealis' compensation programs for the US and LATAM regions as well as for our Global Corporate Functions. You will support M&A compensation integration efforts, contribute to pay equity analyses, and help evolve compensation practices through continuous improvement, market benchmarking, and regulatory awareness. This role is ideal for an experienced compensation professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys translating complex data into clear, actionable insights. This is a hybrid position that requires at least 2 days a week to be on-site.
Responsibilities
Solve complex compensation issues by conducting advanced analyses and recommending solutions that ensure market competitiveness, internal equity, and alignment with organizational compensation philosophy.
Lead key components of the annual compensation cycle, including salary review, market pricing analyses, and short‑term incentive/bonus payout processes, ensuring accuracy, governance, and timely execution.
Serve as a senior advisor to HR Business Partners and internal stakeholders, providing expert guidance, insights, and data‑driven recommendations on compensation decisions and policy interpretation.
Support M&A compensation integration efforts, contributing to due diligence, harmonization of compensation programs, alignment of job levels and pay structures, and evaluation of incentive plan compatibility during acquisitions or divestitures.
Develop and deliver compensation communications, training sessions, and job aids to support HR teams and people leaders in understanding programs, processes, and tools.
Continuously improve compensation practices by challenging existing processes, monitoring emerging trends, benchmarking against best‑in‑class approaches, and staying informed of regulatory and market changes.
Participate in pay equity analysis, assisting with data reviews, methodology discussions, and recommended actions to promote fairness and compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required.
Seven (7) or more years of progressive compensation experience, demonstrating increasing scope, complexity, and independence; M&A and global compensation experience preferred.
HR certification preferred (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), PHR/SPHR), reflecting advanced technical proficiency in compensation practices.
Proven ability to independently apply compensation theory, principles, and market data to evaluate programs, job structures, and pay decisions with minimal oversight.
Strong quantitative, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and deliver clear, actionable insights to HR and business stakeholders.
Advanced Excel expertise (modeling, analysis, scenario testing) and proficiency in PowerPoint for executive‑ready presentations and decision support.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously in a fast‑paced, evolving environment while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical compensation concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Ability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively, serving as a trusted subject‑matter expert within a team‑driven environment.
Compensation & Benefits Expected compensation range is between $106,000 - $134,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
