Experience with fighter and/or airlift aircraft maintenance and operations.

Working knowledge of aircraft product lines.

Knowledge of pilot, maintainer systems & processes, supply chain and/or logistics support.

Job Description You will be the AFS Field Operations Director for the AFS Field Operations team which is responsible for overseeing flightline execution at customer sites, field data systems like ALIS/IMIS/NASC, managing a quick response team, maintenance training and providing overall contractor logistics support.

What You Will Be Doing As the AFS Field Operations Director you will be responsible for overseeing site staffing of 1,700+ personnel, logistics coordination, safety performance, and operational readiness across all AFS locations worldwide.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Direct oversight of site staffing levels, planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of virtual and in‑person site lead meetings.

Monitor site safety performance, recommend improvements, and track world or natural events that could affect operational capability.

Coordinate logistics requirements with Sustainment CDS Leads, Program Managers, and Global Fleet Support to ensure responsive contractor support.

Review SITREP/WAR accuracy, advise on succession plans, and identify opportunities to enhance operations and customer engagement.

Represent the AFS Director as needed, attend LOB IO meetings, and support site‑lead hiring and travel requests.

Further Information About This Opportunity

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start.

This role requires up to 40% travel based on business needs (both domestic and international).

This position is in Fort Worth, TX.

Desired Skills

Master’s degree and 20+ years of fighter operations or maintenance experience are vital to establish credentials.

Strong verbal and written skills as well as the ability to lead a diverse workforce.

Candidate should possess a broad military aircraft support background and advanced interpersonal and communication skills to be effective in a high‑tempo operational environment.

Ability to effectively communicate with supporting companies (Pratt & Whitney, NGC, etc.) and with customer leaders critical for success.

Prior military or civilian equivalent operational maintenance & logistics experience desirable; specifically, organizational, and intermediate maintenance experience.

Expert authority in the maintenance, operations, and support disciplines.

Interim Contractor Support (ICS) experience, including retrofit management, is desirable. Familiarity with the logistics, technical publications approach, and low observable support concept is beneficial.

Familiar with Earned Value Metrics application.

Critical thinker who is detail‑oriented but can also navigate to strategic visions when necessary.

Ability to Work Remotely Part‑time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
