
Purchasing Buyer - Junior or Entry level

A well-established Automotive Manufacturing company in the Greater Indianapolis area is hiring an Entry Level Buyer to join its Supply Chain department.
This is a direct-hire, full-time purchasing role — not a contract or temp position — ideal for a recent college graduate or early-career professional with 0–5 years of experience.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day procurement activities including issuing and tracking
purchase orders , coordinating with suppliers, and resolving delivery or quality discrepancies to maintain uninterrupted production Monitor and maintain
supplier scorecards , tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, quality rejection rates, and overall vendor compliance Identify opportunities for
cost reduction
and value engineering Assist in the preparation and execution of
Request for Quotation (RFQ)
processes, including distributing RFQs to suppliers, analyzing submitted bids, and summarizing findings for senior buyers Collaborate cross-functionally with
inventory management , manufacturing operations, quality assurance, and engineering teams to resolve supply chain disruptions and support new product launches Maintain accurate procurement data within the company's
MRP system
(SAP, Oracle, or similar), ensuring purchase order accuracy and timely record updates Requirements Bachelor's degree in
Business
or
Supply Chain Management. 0–5 years of experience in
purchasing ,
procurement ,
supply chain ,
materials management , or a related discipline —
internships and co-ops fully count Familiarity with or exposure to
RFQ processes ,
vendor negotiations ,
cost analysis , or
strategic sourcing
is a plus, but not required Working knowledge of or coursework in
ERP systems ,
inventory control , or
operations management
is a bonus Proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
or similar tools for data tracking, reporting, and analysis Must currently reside within commuting distance of Indianapolis, Indiana
