Job Summary The Assistant Director of Parent & Family Engagement develops and executes strategic communication and program initiatives for parents and families of Georgia College & State University students, while supporting special initiatives within the Office of Student Life. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for parent emails and phone calls, planning and implementing special events and initiatives, and collaborating with Admissions on parent orientation sessions and resource tabling during admission events.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute parent and family programs and communications, including events such as Parent and Family Weekend, Spring Family Day, and parent orientation sessions in conjunction with student orientation.

Maintain the communication software CampusESP and serve as the primary point of contact and main content creator.

Respond promptly to parent and family inquiries and provide regular communications about important dates, programs, and emergency notifications.

Develop and implement a comprehensive advertising and marketing plan for the Division of Student Life and Parent & Family Engagement.

Manage all social media accounts associated with Parent & Family Engagement and the Office of Student Life.

Assist in developing and maintaining the Office of Student Life and Parent & Family web pages.

Serve as a liaison for Student Life with Enrollment Management and University Advancement regarding parent and family engagement.

Recruit and steward the Parent Leadership Council (PLC), plan PLC meetings, and assist with parent and family fundraising campaigns.

Assist with enrollment management activities such as summer orientations, Junior Day, and admitted student receptions.

Support administrative duties such as strategic planning, assessment, budgeting, and reporting.

Perform additional duties as assigned, including participation on division or campus committees and implementation of special projects.

Assist with at least three student events/programs per semester occurring outside of regular business hours, such as Family Weekend, Homecoming, and Junior Day.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

Minimum 2 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree.

Experience in higher education.

Previous experience in family engagement programming.

Knowledge of FERPA regulations and student privacy considerations.

Experience with data analysis and assessment tools.

Experience with CRM or related tools.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to work independently and as a team.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including content creation for broad audiences.

Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.

Knowledge of digital communication platforms (e.g., CampusESP) and social media management.

Knowledge of event planning and management principles.

Knowledge of budget development and fiscal management practices.

Knowledge of data collection, records management, and database administration.

Ability to develop strategic communication plans aligned with institutional goals.

Ability to steward and engage volunteer leadership groups.
