Title:
Director of Discipleship and Family Ministries
Status:
Part time position, 20 hours a week with seasonal fluctuations during major church events.
Salary:
$30,000 annually
Purpose Statement:
To develop and oversee a clear discipleship pathway for adults, youth, and families that supports the continued spiritual growth and long term health of the congregation. Waleska United Methodist Church is a growing, multi-generational United Methodist congregation on the campus of Reinhardt University that seeks to help people discover the grace of God and become the visible presence of Jesus in our community.
Primary Responsibilities Adult Discipleship Development
Develop and implement a small group ministry strategy
Recruit, train, and support small group leaders
Launch new groups annually
Coordinate seasonal church-wide studies and occasional seasonal adult classes
Assist with assimilation of new members into discipleship pathways
Family and Youth Ministries
Coordinate and lead confirmation ministry in collaboration with the Pastor
Establish a sustainable youth ministry rhythm
Work in conjunction with the Sunday morning Children’s Director to support and expand children’s ministry within the church and community.
Develop parent engagement initiatives
Volunteer and Event Leadership
Provide leadership and coordination for major church events such as VBS, Trunk or Treat, Egg Hunt, and others.
Recruit and develop volunteer leaders
Additional
Assist in worship occasionally if qualified and requested
Preach occasionally if qualified and requested
Serve as the communication point person for your ministry areas.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Strong Christian faith and alignment with the theology of The United Methodist Church
Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop volunteers
Experience in discipleship, small group ministry, youth ministry, or related areas
Strong organizational and communication skills
Bachelor's Degree strongly encouraged
Seminary training a plus but not required
Seminary students welcome to apply
