Field Sales & Service Engineer | Water Treatment
Summit Laboratories, Fort Collins, CO, United States
Do you refuse to walk away from a technical challenge until you’ve mastered the "why"? Are you driven by a "zero-defect" mentality where high attention to detail ensures nothing ever slips through the cracks? When you spot an inefficiency, does your sense of urgency compel you to act immediately? Beyond the technical, do you have the self-starting drive to initiate sales calls and sell solutions to new prospects? If you’re a rare hybrid who loves interpreting complex data but thrives on the momentum of building new business, we want to meet you.
At Summit Laboratories, you won’t just be monitoring the water treatment program for commercial and industrial chiller and boiler systems; you’ll be the face of our technical expertise.
Your responsibilities align perfectly with your strengths in troubleshooting and consulting:
Consultative Sales:
Identify system inefficiencies and sell the chemical or mechanical solutions to fix them.
Technical Execution:
Test water chemistry, validate heat-exchange performance, trend data, and perform minor equipment repairs across diverse commercial and industrial facilities. You will use fundamentals of thermodynamics and heat transfer as well as basic chemistry to ensure our products are providing clean heat-transfer surfaces for customers. In the service role, you'll be able to show water and energy savings to customers.
Strategic Growth:
Use your proactive nature to expand your territory and secure new business opportunities.
Communication:
Translate water treatment data into actionable recommendations for your clients.
Since 1986, Summit Laboratories has been a cornerstone of the Colorado water treatment market, built on a foundation of integrity and high performance. Unlike volume-heavy competitors, we prioritize precision results and long‑term customer satisfaction.
We offer a culture where "getting it right" is the standard, supported by a competitive package including performance bonuses, mileage reimbursement, 401(k), paid time off and generous holiday pay, and full benefits. Here, your drive is backed by decades of proven excellence and the professional stability you need to lead your territory.
If you are a disciplined self-starter ready to take ownership of a territory and solve complex problems for clients, we want to hear from you.
A valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation are required. Summit reimburses for business travel.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or other relevant technical field or relevant work experience required.
The service territory is primarily the north area along the Front Range – extending from the north Denver Metro Area to Fort Collins, as well as some parts of Wyoming.
Relocation will be considered only for candidates with prior industrial water treatment experience.
We provide training to ensure that you can successfully implement a water treatment program at our customer sites. Your days will average 80% service work (sampling water, testing water, troubleshooting issues, communicating with customers) and 20% pursuing new customers in this region.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands of the position are below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders
Ability to lift and/or move boxes and containers up to 60 pounds
