
Purchasing Agent

McMillan Electric is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support our field teams by managing materials, vendors, and logistics. This role is critical to keeping our projects running efficiently and ensuring the right materials are sourced, priced competitively, and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
Manage purchasing, deliveries, and logistics to support project schedules
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, distributors, and reps
Secure competitive pricing and support cost-saving initiatives (bulk purchasing, value engineering)
Coordinate and track material deliveries to meet field and project needs
Maintain material flow, inventory awareness, and support stock tracking efforts
Diversify vendors and ordering strategies to reduce delays and backorders
Manage returns, RGAs, and help control material and shipping costs
Research and implement new products to improve field productivity
Support preconstruction planning, project kitting, and logistics coordination
Create and manage pricing agreements (SPA/CPA) where applicable
Stay current on systems (Accubid, Vista/Viewpoint) and evolving tools
Qualifications
Experience in purchasing, procurement, or construction support
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
Team-oriented with a focus on supporting field operations
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, in-office environment
