
Structural Project Designer

Your Opportunity
The Structural Project Designer will work independently on small projects and with larger projects under guidance of a Structural Project Engineer. They will evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project and perform various duties including:
Independently complete calculations and drawings for small projects.
Develop job‑specific specifications for less complex projects.
Coordinate with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project coordination.
Perform construction administration duties, including field observation reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders.
Use company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software for calculations.
Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and Owner clients.
Understand industry standard design processes, construction means, and methods.
Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service.
Assist with development of design standards.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
Ability to communicate verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of Architects, Engineers, and Owner clients effectively.
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings.
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
ASCE41 and retrofit experience is a plus along with non‑linear analysis.
DSA and/or HCAI experience is a plus.
Federal project experience is a plus.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
Education and Experience
Minimum of 5 years of related work and/or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, Master’s degree preferred.
Professional Engineering license is required, Structural Engineering license is preferred.
Experience navigating modeling software (Autodesk Revit).
Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite).
Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.).
Pay Range Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas – Min Salary $100,000 – Max Salary $145,000
