Your Opportunity The Structural Project Designer will work independently on small projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Structural Project Engineer. The role involves evaluating, selecting, and specifying engineered systems or products for a project.

Responsibilities

Independently complete calculations and drawings for small projects

Develop job‑specific specifications independently for less complex projects

Coordinate with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines to integrate the project

Perform construction administration duties, including completing field observation reports, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and evaluating contractor change orders

Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software

Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owner clients

Understand industry‑standard design processes and construction means and methods

Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time and on budget, while maintaining high service levels

Assist with the development of design standards

Capabilities & Credentials

Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes

Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards

Ability to communicate concepts and ideas both verbally and in written form to a diverse audience of architects, engineers, and owner clients effectively

Ability to check others’ work for accuracy and completeness, and manage time to meet project budget and schedule

Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively independently and in team settings

Ability to participate and collaborate in project teams and to engage in creative and critical thinking

ASCE 41 and retrofit experience is a plus, along with non‑linear analysis

DSA and/or HCAI experience is a plus

Federal project experience is a plus

Good driving record and valid driver’s license required

Education & Experience

Minimum of 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Master’s degree preferred

Professional Engineering license required; Structural Engineering license preferred

Experience with navigating modeling software (Autodesk Revit)

Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite)

Experience with industry‑standard structural engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.)

Typical Office Environment Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.

Pay Range

Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & various CA, NJ areas – Min Salary $100,000.00 – Max Salary $145,000.00

Locations in WA, DC & various CA, MA areas – Min Salary $107,300.00 – Max Salary $155,500.00

Pay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
