
Senior Structural Designer

Your Opportunity
Stantec is in search of a Senior Structural Designer in Anchorage, AK to work independently on small and medium projects, and to serve as a team leader of larger projects responsible for the work of Structural Designers. The Senior Structural Designer will evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project.
Your Responsibilities
Independently complete calculations and drawings for small and medium projects
Develop job-specific specifications independently for less complex projects
Lead junior engineers on complex projects
Coordinate with architectural interiors and other engineering disciplines
Perform Construction Administration duties, including completing field observations reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders
Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owner clients
Understand industry standard design processes and the methods of construction
Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service
Nurture existing client relationships
Assist with the development of design standards
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes
Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards
Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of architects, engineers, and owner clients effectively
Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings
Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thought
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required
Education and Experience
Minimum of 5 years of related work and/or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, Master’s degree preferred
Professional Engineering license is required; Structural Engineering license preferred
Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit)
Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite)
Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.)
Typical Office Environment Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
Pay Range Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas – Min Salary $100,000.00 – Max Salary $145,000.00
