Schedule: Approximately 20 hours/week; includes 9 hours of weekly programming
Mission / Role Summary The Kids Ministry Leader provides spiritual leadership for the children of That Neighborhood Church. This role focuses on teaching biblical truth, equipping volunteers, and creating a safe and welcoming environment where children can encounter Jesus and grow in their faith. The ideal candidate is passionate about inner‑city ministry and committed to building relationships that point children and families toward hope in Christ.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and lead weekly Bible time during After‑School Programming (ASP)
Coordinate lesson plans and activities
Ensure a safe, engaging, and Christ‑centered environment
Curriculum & Teaching
Select or develop Gospel‑centered curriculum
Teach lessons and equip volunteers to teach
Ensure biblical accuracy and age‑appropriate, culturally relevant engagement
Integrate prayer, Scripture, and small groups into weekly programming
Recruit, train, and support volunteers serving in ASP
Provide clear expectations and ongoing encouragement
Build meaningful relationships with children attending programs
Encourage spiritual conversations and prayer
Follow up with children expressing spiritual interest or questions
Family Engagement
Communicate with parents about programming and events
Encourage families in supporting their children’s spiritual growth
Follow up with new families attending the program
Community Engagement
Maintain relationships with local schools and community partners
Represent the ministry in the neighborhood
Encourage participation in church events and programs
Qualifications
Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with TNC’s statement of faith
Experience working with children in ministry or educational settings
Ability to communicate biblical truth in engaging ways for children
Strong relational skills and ability to navigate challenges with students
Ability to lead volunteers with encouragement and clarity
Trauma‑informed care training (or willingness to receive training) preferred
