Scope of Work Under the minimal guidance of the Commercial Credit Underwriting Manager, the incumbent performs independent financial analysis for all commercial loan request types regardless of size or complexity. This may include participation loans, specialized commercial & industrial and real estate investment / construction loans. Occasionally one may see tax credit (historical, state), municipal and non-profit lending requests. Accurately and consistently identifies underlying risks engaging in high level discussions with senior management as necessary. Incumbent ensures any deviations from commercial loan policy are noted and that work is in compliance with applicable laws, policies and regulations as detailed in the Commercial Loan Policy Manual. Incumbent serves as a mentor to junior analysts in the department, reviewing loan proposals as needed and preparing & facilitating departmental training. This individual would possess loan authority thereby having ability to approve or deny loan requests.

Essential Functions (3) Manages Pipeline through use of workflow application:

Adheres to established Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Manages timely receipt of current financial information and other pertinent information required to form complete loan package

Provides proactive and on-going communication with lenders regarding the status of their loans in the department’s pipeline

Analyzes financial statements for guarantors and businesses:

Recognizes trends and can formulate appropriate responses regarding the feasibility of credit requests

Provides loan approval recommendations to the appropriate lending authority and as applicable, maintains lending authority over a level of their own work

Identifies, quantifies and shares business risks as well as key drivers of risk with lenders and senior management as warranted

Initiates discussions regarding the structure of complex loan requests including participations and multi-structure credit requests

Maintains various reports and updates data used to track performance

Other Duties & Responsibilities

Assists with coaching, training and leading staff or other bank personnel in credit and financial analysis techniques

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of financial accounting with ability to spread and analyze financial statements/tax returns from businesses and individuals

Knowledge of loan programs offered by government agencies such as FAME and SBA

Displays high level of regard for trust and confidentiality

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products

Displays strong written and verbal communication skills

Displays strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet established deadlines

Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Effectively uses analytical skills to solve technical, as well as, non-technical problems

Prior knowledge of regulations within the financial services industry is preferred

Ability to adapt to change

Desired Job Experience

5+ years of commercial lending/credit experience is preferred

Experience in a professional, service focused and fast-paced environment

Desired Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business is preferred

Working Conditions & Minimum Physical Requirements

Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment

Lifting and moving of moderately heavy objects on occasion

Normally seated for extended periods of time
