About the Role Join Spectrum News as a Meteorologist and deliver forecasts that keep your community safe and informed. From live TV broadcasts to the Spectrum News mobile app, you’ll provide weather updates that are clear, accurate, and engaging across traditional and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Forecast weather and produce weathercasts for nightly news segments.

Use TV weather graphics systems to present data to viewers.

Tell weather stories across TV, connected television, and digital platforms.

Respond to breaking news and severe‑weather emergencies.

Qualifications

Experience: 2+ years forecasting and presenting weathercasts, working knowledge of TV weather graphics systems.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Meteorology.

Technical skills: Knowledge of synoptic meteorology, tropical, and radar.

Skills: Ability to anticipate situations, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.

Abilities: Enthusiasm for breaking news.

Travel: Open to travel to cover local stories and engage the community.

Schedule: Willing to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

National Weather Association (NWA) and/or AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal.

Proficiency with general office software, newsroom software, and basic non‑linear editing.

Physical: May be required to lift up to five pounds.

Working Conditions

Climate‑controlled studio environment during the year; may perform field duties as needed.

Open newsroom setting with semi‑noisy environment.

Communications via person, phone, and email.

Equipment: studio and weather forecasting equipment, computers, and related tech.
